This is called a patu and it was a weapon the Maori used to fight. This was why they needed strong wrists.
Maori had no guns or bows and arrows so all fighting was done close.
I think it would be a good idea for politicians and armies to play games instead of fighting and killing people. There could still be winners but no one would get hurt.
