This is a model of the kiwi. It was in New Zealand before the Maori came. It wasn�t this big. It is about the same size as me. Do you remember how big I am?
The kiwi was a bird that couldn�t fly but before the Maori arrived it didn�t need to fly. There were no dangerous animals to kill it. But the Maori brought animals with them that could kill the kiwi and so it nearly disappeared. But it didn�t and now it is looked after. By the way it usually comes out at nights I think.
