The land in New Zealand is very hilly. Lots of these hills have been made from volcanoes.
Richard tells me that a volcano happens when the hot rocks in the middle of the earth are thrown up and burst through the ground.
It doesn�t happen too often I am glad to say. The mountain in my picture is formed from a volcano.
